Innovative Web Site Provides Youth With Positive Rock Music

Lakewood CO, February 4, 2001 A new web site has been launched to provide rock music fans with many positive alternatives to more negative mainstream artists. According to Jason Best, the Director of Band Relations, We hope to prove that quality rock music can have a positive message.
The Internet site, located at http://www.godcore.com/, consists of information from over 450 Christian Rock Artists. Music styles include Hardcore, Metal, Rapcore, Punk, and Ska. Most of the bands have Home Page links and contact information, while some artists listings also include MP3s, lyrics, music reviews and interviews.
Godcore.com started as a hobby in November of 1999 when Kevin Farnsworth, one of the founders, was frustrated by the lack of this type of information available on the Internet. Since then, he and six others have been working hard to build the 700 Megabytes of data that are now readily available for those who would visit Godcore.com; thus, making it one of the larger Christian Rock Information Sites on the Internet.
Since the aim of Godcore is to spread the word about these artists, the information base has been built without charge to either the fans or musicians listed on Godcore.com. This has enabled Godcore to include many lesser-known artists, which could not normally afford such publicity.

James Harker’s three-year journey to produce his debut album The Red Room began at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival. He performed regularly in a dingy room at the foot of North Bridge, which had been converted into the ‘Red Room’: a sumptuous boudoir for immersive, avant-garde music and drama.
The Red Room, and the whole bubble surrounding it was a chaotic, volatile experience. Reality had been barred entry, and consequently everything and everyone became intensified and unstable, says James. On the one hand, it had been huge fun. But when I came up for air I was conscious of so many things: the fickleness of identity, the unpredictability of love, the conflict of emotion and morality; but, as Boy George pointed out, theres an art to feeling sorry for yourself. And so, James began to document his feelings in the 12 songs that came to constitute The Red Room.
A year later James found himself with a window of time to record the album. It was now or never, but he was also completely broke. So, he hooked-up with a string quartet at his old university, and with an old school-friend who had a semi-professional studio in the Derbyshire countryside. No money would change hands, and James made ends meet working as a restaurant piano player, an actor, and a short film soundtrack composer.

TO-Umbria: Performing the Essence of the Heart of Italy

Renowned for its medieval hillside towns, ancient cultural heritage, food and festivals, the Region of Umbria is coming to Toronto at the end of January to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Umbria Association of Ontario.
Umbria is the geographic centre of the Italian Peninsula. Its cuisine, culture, arts, trade and tourism will be celebrated first in the traditional heart of Torontos Italian Community – the Columbus Centre – and secondly, in the Distillery District where Umbria Jazz, – the most prestigious jazz Festival in Europe – will present a solo piano concert by Danilo Rea. The concert will be held at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Kevin and Roger Garland Cabaret, Saturday January 29 January 2011 at 8 pm.
